Beautiful Baptism

"I've waited my whole life to baptized!"

I wore a nice necklace and a pretty white dress. My neighbor, Sister Lindsey, came over to help make my hair nice because Mommy didn't know how. It felt weird and she pulled my hair a lot and turned my head all different ways while I sat in her lap. It was a nice hairdo like a crown around my head and flowers that Tasha made on clips.
We rode in Grandpa’s truck to the stake center and I accidentally saw the quilt that Gma Jana made and I thought, Umm, I’m gonna pretend I didn’t see that.
After I got out of the truck I went straight to the door to see if it was unlocked and it was because there was already a baptism happening and that was a friend in my class, named Andrew. And he’s a boy and he’s kind of cuckoo, and it was his birthday on his baptism day. Weird.
Paige picked out the plain jumpsuit over the ruffled girly ones.
We went inside and I went straight into the place where we picked out our clothes that we get baptized in – the jumpsuit. So, I picked it out and it started to feel nice and warm when I got out of the bathroom to get dressed.

All the seats in the RS room were filled with people that have influenced Paige during her life. So many people there to support her! I wish I had a picture of the whole group. Behind her here, is her 2nd grade teacher (Miss Hagood).

When the baptism started we had an opening song, “When I am Baptized” (that's my favorite song) and then we had an opening prayer from Annika – she is one my Blumer cousins. Amy is my Dad’s sister. And so, then the bishop went up to talk for a while and my mom did a talk about baptism. And she like talked about cooking and there were 5 different ingredients. And you’re making a recipe for eternal life. And I kind of get it and I kind of knew how it worked that time. Gma Blumer wasn’t actually there because she had gotten sick and she couldn’t come. It was a talk that mom came up with. The ingredients are: baptism, sharing the gospel, faith & hope, repentance, and the Holy Ghost. I got to wear a chef hat because I really like cooking.

Baptism talk about the recipe for Eternal Life.

Paige commented on how heavy her jumpsuit was while she walked up the steps.

Then after my mom gave a talk I got baptized. I plugged my nose and I felt happy when I was baptized. I concentrated on bending my knees to go in the water. The water was really warm, but when I got out I was freeeezing.

Paige said she couldn't believe she was so old now - old enough to be baptized, old enough to do Faith in God and go to Activity Days now.

Then after that me and my dad sang “I know that my Savior loves me”. I smiled at Sister Robertson and Emily and I looked at the music. I almost got messed up at the end of the song.
Then I got confirmed. I remember that Bishop Hunt, my dad (of course), Grandpa and Zak and Seth, Josh and Ward and Troy and some other people, I think. Did you know that confirming is a priesthood blessing and you do it after a baptism? I remember that they said my first name, middle name and last name – Paige Autumn Blumer then some other stuff that I don’t really remember. Their hands were light on my head. I received the holy ghost and was the newest member of the church. I shook some of their hands and hugged some of them.
So before I got confirmed, my Grandpa gave a talk about the gift of the holy ghost and the quilt represented how the holy ghost makes you feel warm, just like a blanket. I love it as much as the blanket that Grammy gave me (I’m still sleeping with it because its my very most favorite blanket). I got to unwrap a picture of Christ during Grandpa's talk. I remember he said that he disagreed with Mommy about Grammy and Granddad not being at my baptism - because they were there.

Then the bishop went up to talk some more and he talked about the very first time he met me. He said that when I was a little kid I said, “Wait! I have a secret for you,” and he bent down on his knees, and I said, “have fun!”.
Then we sang I’m trying to be like Jesus and Anna Penrod gave the closing prayer. And at the door where everyone went out there was a table with a basket and inside were Kit Kat covenant reminders with paper that helped us remember to keep our covenants. Keep the commandments, Always remember Him, Take His name upon you. And so those are the 3 things and everybody got one.

Our good friends, the Parry's had recently moved from our ward up to Logan. But they surprised us and drove all the way down for Paige's baptism. Such a surprise!! It wouldn't have been the same without them.

After that we went to have a lunch at my church. My church is right across the street from the school.
I loved the CTR cake. I loved the Hawaiian Haystacks. I loved the presents. I loved playing with my cousins.

It was really great of you to come down, Zak! We didn't realize you had made the trip specifically for this occasion until we talked to your mom Sunday night. We thought you were coming to Utah anyway and it was a happy coincidence that Paige was getting baptized at the same time. Thank you for coming! And thank you for participating as a witness and in the priesthood circle for her confirmation.
